Find a Mentor

Are you interested in finding a mentor for yourself?

A mentor can show you some of the more informal ways of getting things done and explain the nuances of professional politics.

If you're in a corporate environment, a mentor who is not your immediate supervisor may be better able to help with your long-term goals, versus a supervisor who is more focused on short-term issues (or potentially a roadblock).

Keys to a good relationship are the mentee's willingness to accept feedback and their commitment to owning the mentoring relationship. The most successful relationships result when the mentee takes the intitiative, defining the agenda and objectives of the mentoring effort.

So, what are YOU looking for?

  • inspiration

  • help finding the right people/resources

  • a sounding board, because reading books only goes so far

  • professional empathy - been there, done that, here's what I learned
